THE HOTTEST THING IN TECH
AI Agents Transition From”Copilot” To ”Autopilot”

AI Agents are getting real. They are transitioning from ”copilot” to ”autopilot”. OtoCo just went viral with a video of its agents autonomously creating an LLC in real time. These open source agents can also launch blockchain tokens, manage finances, and execute actions on behalf of their LLC. Meanwhile, Amazon is about to launch its major AWS agentic AI system this week, and startup Dev/agents got support from Google and others to build the Android for AI Agents. The flow of money to innovative agent-focused startups in finance and other tasks continues at pace.

OtoCo’s Turnkey Agents

OtoCo, a platform by company Otonomos that facilitates business operations on the blockchain, showcased a practical example of AI agent capabilities. Through the platform, AI agents can autonomously registering an LLC in Delaware, launch NFTs or tokens on Eth, Polygon or Base blockchains, manage finances, accept grants, and more. This demonstrates a growing range of potential use cases, from single-use legal entities for bots to humanoid robots operating with legal personhood. This development potentially expands the addressable market for AI agents and highlights their potential to disrupt various industries, as well as the financial system.

AWS Agents

This week, AWS is expected to unveil its AI agents strategy at its annual Re:Invent conference. CEO Adam Selipsky has hinted at autonomous systems that will execute complex workflows and tasks independently to unlock new levels of automation and efficiency for businesses. Managing these agents at scale brings challenges related to scalability, resilience, and security. AWS is seeking to actively address these challenges with robust frameworks and tools to enable seamless management of large-scale agent systems. It is also expected to unveil new Annapurna Labs chips designed for AI applications to power this system as well as its soon-to-be unveiled GenAI models. It also plans to use liquid cooling for its AI servers and data center infrastructure.

The Android For AI agents

Competing with AWS, a Google Alum-founded startup, /dev/agents just raised a $56M seed round co-led by Alphabet’s growth fund CapitalG and Index Ventures. Other backers include Conviction, Andrej Karpathy, Alexandr Wang, Andy Rubin and Soleio. CapitalG says it is enthusiastically partnering with the team to create “a solid foundation for a new era of computing.” This new foundation, aims to be the Android for AI agents, with innovative UI patterns, a reimagined user data model, and clear rules of engagement between agents and the digital world. If it does so, it should enable devs to create a new generation of agentic applications.

Boost For Agentic AI In Finance

New York/Toronto startup, Boosted.ai, also just secured $15M (bringing its total to $61M) to further develop its financial agentic AI platform, Alfa. The round included Fidelity Canada and all of the company's existing institutional shareholders, which includes over 300 asset managers, wealth managers, family offices, and hedge funds, managing over $3T in assets. Boosted "AI coworkers" can be trained to think like its users and consistently monitor and update investment portfolios. This could significantly reduce the time and effort required for financial analysis, streamlining processes for institutions. It also points to a growing interest and confidence in agentic AI's potential to revolutionize the investment management industry.
