Tech Companies to watch for this week to April 4th 2025
TECH COMPANIES TO WATCH:
Retym — The California chipmaker secured a $75M Series D from Spark, Mayfield, and Kleiner Perkins to develop a programmable DSP chip to meet AI data center demands.
Replit — The AI 'vibe coding' startup, based in San Francisco, is seeking $200M in funding for a $3B valuation. This highlights significant investor interest in AI-driven development tools as Replit continues to grow rapidly in the tech sector.
Agility Robotics — The humanoid robotics company, headquartered in Oregon, is poised to raise $400M, augmenting its previous $150M funding. This investment supports Agility's mission to advance the development and deployment of humanoid robots in various industries.
Sesame — Brendan Iribe's AI voice startup, based in the US, is negotiating over $200M in funding, potentially valuing the company at over $1B. The funds aim to expand into personal companions and AI wearables, with backing from Sequoia Capital and Spark Capital.
Runway — The AI media production startup raised $308M in a Series D led by General Atlantic. It aims to boost AI research and expand media capabilities, standing out with models like Gen-4 and Hollywood partnerships, despite facing copyright legal challenges.
Aetherflux — Space solar startup founded by Baiju Bhatt, secured $50M to launch its first satellite demo in 2026 aiming to transmit solar energy from low Earth orbit to Earth.
Plaid — The San Francisco-based fintech raised $575M at a $6.1B valuation, down from previous valuations. Funds are for employee RSU obligations and staff liquidity. Despite delaying IPO plans, Plaid reports strong revenue growth and an expanding enterprise customer base, aiming for sustained profitability.
Zhipu AI — Based in China, the company has unveiled AutoGLM Rumination, a free AI agent for deep research and tasks, boasting better performance and efficiency than rivals.
Emergence — Specializes in autonomous agent creation software based in San Francisco. The platform allows for agents to generate other agents via prompts, focusing on recursive self-improvement and multi-agent systems. Emergence addresses challenges like bias and goal misalignment, indicating significant impact potential.
OpenAI — OpenAI's image-generation feature has seen over 700 million images created by 130 million users since March 2025. This surge has strained resources, causing product delays and degraded services. India emerges as the fastest-growing market for ChatGPT.
OpenAI — Also reportedly finalizing a $40B round led by SoftBank, at $300B (~2x). But it may be downsized to $20B if the FP status is not achieved.

Isomorphic Labs — Specializes in A.I.-driven drug discovery and just aised $600M from Thrive Capital to solve diseases with A.I. breakthroughs like AlphaFold.
